My Boxing movie

I like Boxing because how exiting things happen like how they duck under the punch and 1 hit one knockout they don't see it coming also because how
they waste each other and beat them to the ground! How I got inspired to do Boxing for my
sport is because my family and I have watched a movie named Cinderella man!

Pierre de Coubertin

After a gap of hundreds of years the Olympics returned to Athens in 1896, the reason behind the recreation of the Olympics was because of one man, Pierre de Coubertin. He admired the Greek ideas of fitness and sporting competitiveness amongst different communities, and he hoped that the modern Olympics would bring countries closer together.

The first Olympic games

The Olympics of 1896 in Athens in Greece had fourteen countries taking part, with most of the athletes in Greece. This first modern Olympics was the largest meeting of international competitors that had ever occurred. The next Olympics, held in Paris four years later, was the first to allow women competitors, this time the Olympics were part of a much bigger event and lasted several months.

Mount Ruapehu Snowboarding Part 1 2016

Mount Ruapehu
Snowboarding 2016
Introduction

Kia ora my name is Toby and this is a story about an interesting trip to a snow mountain where me and my family went to snowboard.

Race ahead and read
this interesting story!..

As I rose up from my bed, I felt a soft windy breeze fall onto my face. My big brother, Levi, the tallest of our family, had sleepwalked into my comfortable bed.
He had lay straight on my lap and stole my pillow! Me and my cousin, Jonte were laughing very hard - but we realised that he was just pretending.
Levi even hugged me as a teddy bear. It was disgustingly funny! Once Levi had pretended to wake up from all the crazy laughter, Mum finally came into the door to wake up all of the crazy boys.
At that point, I even pretended that I was asleep, but then I got out of bed and went downstairs to have my breakfast.
As I crunched the juice out of my energetic Nutri grain and milk, I was thinking about snowboarding and carving down the snowy breeze on the tight tracks of the

I got changed into a special kind of pants designed to keep you warm. I also had a delicate comfy jacket - it keeps me warm for ages, I even wanted to take it off because it’s too hot to wear a massive jacket like this one.

Anyway, once I had eaten my breakfast all up my stomach was rumbling, it was like pins and needles, ( stomach is full ).
“ Mum i’m full ” I shouted, “ well then go lie on the couch “ she replied in a polite way, so I lay down on the squishy blanket and the bouncy couch, I had snuggled straight in the blanket and rolled myself up in it.

After a while I woke up from the sun glistening in my eyes I had looked and heard that everyone else was getting ready for Snowboarding and Skiing,
So I had quickly gotten up and started
to work my pants off I had worked so hard that in a minute I was finished (because I was ready for the next adventure to the snowy and windy Mountain.

Here is what our bach looks like!
Thank you for reading this story I hope you enjoyed it!!!

Hey guys, do the dad (it’s really the dab)!

Get ready for Part... Two!

Olympic Flame Origins

... ceremony-olympic flame.jpg

The Ancient Greeks started the tradition of having an Olympic flame. In Olympia a sacred flame is lit by the sun's rays, and stays alight until the games have ended. The flame symbolized a request for protection from Zeus, and the athletes’ struggle for victory.

The modern flame symbolizes the light of the spirit, knowledge and life. To this day, the torch is still lit in Olympia in Greece, then carried by a relay team, passing runner to runner until it reaches the host-city of the games. There, the cauldron will be lit and stay alight until the closing ceremony.

Listen carefully to the dictation and start your writing below. Listen out for breaks in the dictation - this indicates a new sentence. Take care with ALL your full stops and capital letters. Listen carefully to each word and try to spell any that you don’t know on your own. There are lots of words to help you above.

The Olympics began over two and a half thousand years ago in ancient Greece.
In those days Greece was made up of several different states, including  Athens, Sparta and Corinth and they were often at war with each other, but when the games were on, they held a Truce.

This great event was held at a place called Olympia and this is why the games are called the Olympics.
They were held once every four years in honour of Zeus lord of all the gods.
Eventually the ancient Olympics were abolished by the roman Emperor Theodosius the first who was a Christian and didn’t like the games because they were dedicated to pagan god, but the Olympics were always remembered as a symbol of human achievement and peace.

Geomertry garden

My Geometry Garden
Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 6.57.04 PM.png
We are describing the different parts of our garden and what geometry features they show.
Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 6.01.44 PM.png
What type of symmetry do your flowers have?
In my garden my flowers have… rotational symmetry.

This means that… when you turn a shape around and it  looks the same on each side.
Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 6.04.33 PM.png
What type of symmetry does your butterfly have?
In my garden my butterfly has… reflection symmetry.

This means that… When you draw something on one side you need to copy it on the other side.
Pathway
Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 6.07.41 PM.png
What geometry feature does your pathway show?
What did you do to make sure pathway?
In my garden my pathway shows… tessellation.

To make my pathway I… have to tessellate whatever shape I’ve got.

This means that... When I have a 2d shape I need to make sure that I have no gaps when I put them together.

6 Thinking hats art reflection 2016

6 Thinking Hats
Write 2 - 3 sentences for each hat as a reflection about our Art Creation.

How did I feel about my artwork or the whole process.
What I felt about my artwork was that it was a toanga to me. it just feels special and a great piece of art that I can care for or look after.
What did I enjoy most of all or what was the best thing about my painting.
The best part of my painting is when we had to dip a stick in the white paint and dot all around my painting. I love being with miss King’s class even when she’s angry at me.
What did I find hard or I didn’t like.
What I found hard in my painting was when to not mix colors with each other, also not staying in the lines and putting the color in the wrong place. Very hard work for me.
How can I do my art better next time?
I can do my art better next time because I need to focus most of the time also practice my drawing and painting, also listen more to my teacher Miss King. I’m really good.
What was the most interesting thing I did or my friends did.
I found it funny and interesting that my teachers had a funny fight about the word “vividering”. They used that word as a verb to describe what we had to do when going over our outlines with a black vivid.
What did I learn most about?
What I learnt mostly was about reflection symmetry. Reflection symmetry is when there’s something on one side and you have to copy it on the other side.
Reflection symmetry is fun for me in my way.

Te tuhi art gallery

Running in the pouring rain I ran as fast as I could, filled with excitement, our class, Room 11 and 12 were going on a trip to an art gallery. Once I had gotten to school I went for a water break. After all the running that I did.

I went to class and handed in my permission slip and money to my Teacher Mr Moran he’s really cool and funny. Once the second bell had rung I could see that my mum just came in. Miss Mckinley said for our class to sit on the mat to be ready for the trip.

Climbing onto the bus I sat with my friend Tyson we were chatting and singing songs. When we had walked off the bus we lined up in two lines, one line of boys and one line of girls. The man was sitting into the bus waiting while we went inside.

Walking into the doors we entered the massive art gallery. Once we had sat down on the floor all the teachers took our bags off and put them all in a cardboard box near us. A man came and introduced himself and said “hello guys my name is Jeremy and I will be taking you guys through your trip”.

Jeremy told us to stand up quietly and two lines, I was first line leader which I hadn’t been for a year anyway we had walked past the toilets. We were there, the kids workshop for art. He said “ sit on the chairs guys oh ladies first” so the girls went to sit on the chairs then the boys went and did the same thing.

We had a blue piece of paper, some shapes and a box full of pencils vivid markers and scissors he had started to write on the whiteboard a few instructions that we will discover now. So on the whiteboard is the 1st instruction which Jeremy said “ so first you guys should get some scissors and start cutting out the shapes which is for our Dream bedroom”. he said in a kind way.

So we started cutting out ten shapes for our dream bedroom. After we had all finished cutting we had to wait for the others so after a minute we had all finished that task. The second step was to glue them together so that they tessellate, so we all did it, but then we drew inside which i’ll tell you in the next paragraph.

What I drew in my dream bedroom was a lollie waterfall with everything I wanted, a room full of lego, a room withe a pool full of coke and a speaker. A target practise for shooting and a big massive screen to play games on. Also watch movies all day long.

So that was the last thing we did then we walked out of the kids workshop and headed back into two lines I was the first line leader again, so we walked back to the main place where the cafe was. Then walked into a very strange room it had lot’s of weirdness around the walls that I didn’t understand.

It the paper was full of fingerprints everywhere. Well this other room that had a screen a pretty small one so we watched a movie a really scary one and about art. Then we moved to another one not so quite scary not as scary as the other one.

Then we went back outside and sat down in the main entrance room where our bags were and we got our bags and put them on. Then we shouted to Jeremy “ Thank you Jeremy!!!!”. said our class then went back into the bus and went back to school.

Here’s a picture of me and my Mum look to an angle if you would like to see the picture.

Tamarereti and the Taniwha

Late in the dark lonely night with the waves pushing into the wet sand lived a very dangerous Taniwha which whoever came in or even near his home, he would make a meal of them. But once the sun comes up the Taniwha goes down into the dark sea so he doesn't be harmed.

One morning a boy woke up from the light, his name was Tamarereti and his stomach was rumbling very very badly so he decided to set off in his waka to catch some fish so he did once he got his waka into the sea of lake taupo and caught three fish.

Once he caught the fish he felt like having a little nap. While he was sleeping the god of the wind came and blew his waka all the way to the other side. Once Tamarereti awoke he recognised that his waka was blew by the wind to the other side.

So he got off his waka and stepped right into the deep sand and sat down his stomach was still rumbling so he lit a bonfire and cooked some fish into it, while he was eating in the corner of his eye in the lake he saw some glistening pebbles.

He had an idea so he grabbed the glistening pebbles and threw them in the waka once he had threw all the pebbles into the waka he set off into the lake and casted them into the sky so the light would scare the Taniwha away.

Tamarereti was nice and made it home so he went to sleep, the next morning Tamarereti got out and went outside he then saw the god of the sky Ranginui came down and said “you have made it safer in the lake and very beautiful in the sky”, then Ranginui flew away back into his home where he belonged.

Amazing art adventure Term 3 2016

Just think of having a break and getting to do some art, well,  let me show you what we did. When me and my group were building with lego for our great wall of China,Miss King said “Stop look and listen!” she shouted the whole class said “Stop look and listen!” back at her.

“We are going to our art adventure so pack up” “yes Miss King” we replied.

After we had cleaned up we all knew the roll sit on the mat, so we did. When we had sat on the mat we all had a letter I was in group c and some other people were in the other groups.

When we had headed off to our first spot which was in Miss Belt’s class. She gave us an introduction of what we were doing, we were building a team house out of paper. We were putting patterns on paper bricks and roofs, it was really fun that was my favourite and I only wanted to do one.

Here’s a photo of me and Varnce not doing the brick thing - we were doing cartoons with Miss Scanlan.

The Eiffel Tower Ext

In the large city of Paris, a golden steel structure holds court. The Eiffel tower is  a masterpiece of workmanship. With its arched base it stands with the view of the beautiful park. An imposing tower that frightens the person standing underneath.

The Eiffel tower is 300m fat and was built in January 28, 1887. Gustave Eiffel designed the tower and it is named after him. The Eiffel tower is located on Champ de Mars, 5 Avenue Anatole France, 75007 Paris, France, it took a long time to build.
