Biscuiting Adventure With My Family

I could feel the cold wet drops of water dripping on my ears and face, while the soaking water climbs through my togs. I lift a life jacket over my head and ease it down onto my shoulders, and can hear the ‘clicking’ sounds of the straps tightening together. I leaped onto the inflatable biscuit before my Father lifted me onto our new boat. I had never been on our boat before, well not in the water at least.

As soon as I had gotten on, my Dad had already said “alright boys jump on the Biscuit!” My brothers and I had all jumped on right after he had mentioned, ‘Biscuit’. We were all ready to go. At first I was in the middle to keep it balanced, “Ready” Dad said “3-2-1 go!”.

We were bouncing, moving from right to left. It was CRAZY fun but the worst part was keeping your eyes open because the rope was in the water and it was spraying heaps of water at our faces. After a while of bouncing and moving right to left, our Dad did a huge turn trying to shake us off, which he did. He actually shook all of us off, making us taste and swallow disgusting sea salt water!

After a few more turns of FUN, AMAZING and AWESOME Biscuiting,
we sat down and got some food and drink and had a picnic on the boat which was so relaxing. We ate sandwiches, kebabs, pies all that kind of stuff and we had one free Fresh Up drink each. After our picnic Dad took us back to shore and we walked in squishy and slimy mud to get back to our house!

Learn Create Share Ambassadors Application Writing

Through Extension me and the year 5 & 6 Extension group every term have been practicing and taking part in the Paideia Seminar which is a place where we gather in groups and share what we've learnt. This term we were looking at instruments well not all of them were instruments, the first instrument was the Violin, second this is my group the Trumpets, third Piano, and last but not least the Drums group. the exciting part is the lollies on the table which everyone loves, we have a limited amount of lollies so that its three lollies each for each person.

It takes a lot of confidence to master the
Paideia Seminar and luckily I have that confidence. I have participated in every single Paideia Seminar in this entire year. I still remember when Mrs Burt came to our first Paideia Seminar in Term 1! my favorite Paideia Seminar would probably have to bee in term 1 especially cause you were there Mrs Burt!

Hour Of Code


Today, workers from OMG Tech came to our classroom and we got to code by using the Hour Of Code website. We got to do all sorts of things. Most of us just played games well I was one of those people but some of us just made games, which i'm fine with but why would you want to do that.

My favorite game was Code Combat, it was a game where you got to choose a player then you would code your hero to fight and go to places!

Extension Term 4 Reflection 2017

I thought that is was the best term out of this whole year, because we got to have the opportunity to create our own musical instrument animation and we got to get easy work which I was so glad about because the last 3 terms I found it very hard to keep up with my group members and I felt like I was slowing them down but now since i’m by myself I could go as slow and as fast as I wanted to!

I’m so glad because I had gotten everything finished just in time for Mrs Lagitupu to mark me. I had loads of fun animating, researching, mostly drawing. I just loved this term because I thought that it would be a really boring term but it was the exact opposite! And that was how I felt throughout Term 4 2017

Flight Of The Bumblebee

In class we had to listen to a piece of music called Flight Of The Bumblebee and draw a picture of what we think when we listen to the song then we had to tell it in a piece of writing!

The Bee has to get some pollen for his colony otherwise he will be grounded. when he sees the flowers the music starts getting louder and faster that means that he is in great danger, "There's a spider guarding the flowers!" he says, the spider spots him then is ready to attack but another enemy spotted him first the wasp colony, a bees worst enemy.

As the music gets faster and louder the wasp colony are chasing the bee around and around but the bee is smart and he quickly zips through the spiders web without the spider know while all the wasps are caught in the spiders web and the bee grabs the pollen and flies safely back to his hive, as the music ends soft!

Extension Animation Term 3

Using Times Tables For a Song

Do you think it is a good idea to learn our times tables using song why/ why not

My Response: I think we should have times tables as a song because it makes children have fun and want to come back to school to learn their times tables!

Drama Game

We circled ourselves in a round 2D shape. We were playing charades or you could say that we were acting out drama well charades is drama. If you don’t know how to play just click this link to watch a Video about drama or read this.

Instructions / How We Played It:

  1. No talking
  2. Act it out then freeze
  3. A person from the circle does something to change the action
  4. Freeze
  5. The person who had a turn at acting goes in the circle

And that was how we played our type of charades! For some of us it was fun for others they didn’t find it so cool, but I was in the fun side, I found it really cool to act because it built up my confidence a little bit. After we had done all that Miss West told us to get into groups up to 1-4. I went with my best friend Freedom and a few more mates.

What we acted out was volleyball my exact favourite sport. Harlyn and Me were the net and Freedom and Lennox were on both sides pretending to hit the invisible or imaginable ball. Everybody thought we were playing volleyball and they were right but a girl in my class called Pisirina thought we were ballroom dancing!

And that was the end of the games we played, we went back to class to write a blog like this one that you’ve been reading this entire time!

My Favourite Part Of Riverside Camp 2017

I was sitting there cheering inside the chapel  where people or christians you could say praise God. All the children were shouting as the other groups perform and get ready to dance. I was in a team with my older brother, he was a leader, there were 8 people in our group including our leaders, our team name was… Sleeping Kings!

We were going to be named the Sleeping Bags which I came up with the name. Now getting back to the concert our group was performing last we were the best even though they didn’t know what was happening they still let us go last! For our dance we did these songs:


It was so fun and we even had the best dance out of all the groups! But my super favourite part of that night is when we did the walst as soon as we started playing the music everyone stood up grabbed a partner and danced exactly everyone, we weren’t expecting that but it happened!

How Ears Work

Ears pick up sound waves and change them into information that the brain can understand, like music or someone talking! There are slow vibrations and quick vibrations, slow vibrations produce deep sounds and quick vibrations produce high sounds!

When the sound goes through your ear, it goes through a tunnel called the ear canal, first to the eardrum, then the eardrum starts to vibrate, there are three things that vibrates in your ear, the Hammer, the anvil, and the stirrup, they are all part of the eardrum and how it works!

After it’s gone through the eardrum it’s starts going deeper to the inner ear! Once the sound has gone into your inner ear your eardrum makes a set of hard electrical signals that are sent to your brain! The Cochlea is a spiral shaped tube with fluid inside!

Sensory cells also known as hair cells line up the length of the Cochlea, these hair cells have weird degrees of sensitivity for the different tones! This makes the ear hear all the sound that is around it.

There are three parts of your ear.The outer ear The Middle ear The Inner ear.The outer ear is called Pinna or Auricle.The Pinna or outer ear acts like a funnel collecting sounds to channel them into the ear canal which is also part of the outer ear.The ear canal produces ear wax.Ear wax contains chemical that could fight off infections that could hurt the skin in the ear canal.Ear wax traps dirt to keep the ear clean. When the eardrum vibrates it moves a set of three tiny bones on the other side called Ossicles. The three ossicle bones are called the Hammer and the Anvil and the Stirrup.The Ossicles are connected to the cochlea.The Cochlea is a small curled up tube filled with liquid the vibration of the ossicles create waves in the liquid in the cochlea.The cochlea is lined with tiny hairs when the fluid in the cochlea moves it moves the hairs and creates nerve signals and sends to the brain.

Bike Helmet Fitting



This week we had a bike session with a lady called Rochelle. She taught us all the things you need to know about bike riding even before you put your helmet on!

Instructions:
     1. The first thing that you need to do is check for cracks in the
        helmet

     2. The next thing that you do is try it on

     3. Before you try it on take off all Hair Accessories

     4. Also before you need to take off your hair accessories and you
         need to have a low ponytail

     5. Once you have put it on, loosen the helmet as far as you can

     6. Make sure that you can fit two fingers on your forehead, once
         you have tried it on put two fingers on your forehead, do the
         same with your chin

     7. Make the Y shape, tighten it as hard as you can

     8. Make it feel comfortable on your head, don’t use the helmet if
         it’s got cracks otherwise it does no protection

     9. Don’t wear your helmet at the back otherwise it will give you no

         protection

Extension Animation Term 3 2017

Paideia Seminar Term 3 2017

I was sitting relaxed and waiting for a turn to speak. I had butterflies in my stomach. We were having another Paideia Seminar, finally someone spoke and it actually made sense so I added on saying “ if Africa became like America the world would be a pretty rubbish place to live on, because America has already created heaps of pollution and if Africa is like America the world will be polluted!”


I achieved my goal of speaking more because I spoke like 7 times. Right after I said the America thing my mind popped up with another idea based on the exact same thing, I said again “ if every country was like America if you were on a plane and wanted to go to America you wouldn’t know where to go because every country will be like America.”


Every time you got three ticks you could take three lollies home lucky for me as I told you I got 7 ticks, everyone was mostly excited about the lollies because they are very yummy and everybody knows that!

It was so fun, I loved it, everybody came because the lollies well so did I but also I enjoyed talking more than eating lollies! My goal for next Term is linking on to what another person says!

My Favourite Part Of Church Camp

Muddy, wet, and excited as I tramp over the gooey muddy tracks and head towards the park. As I swing on the ladder I couldn’t stop thinking about 'The Messy Games' and how much fun I would have while I would be playing. A few minutes later the siren calls “everyone to the field it’s time for the… Messy Games!”


We were playing a game that I like to call 'Dodge ’n’ Slide' because how you play is...


Instructions:


Running Team
  1. Hit the ball with the Bat from home base (which looked like
  2. Run and slide on your belly and jump into the object to be safe
  3. You cannot hit them with the ball when they are inside the objects
  4. You are not allowed to run around the slide
  5. One person at a time
  6. If you 2 people jump inside the same object then the person who jumped inside is out
Ball Team:
  1. Throw the ball at the person who is running and sliding if you hit them then they are out
  2. If you catch the ball on the full then they are out


When it was my turn I hit the ball pretty far and slid on the slide got back up and hopped inside the object. I was Safe! When the next person hit I quickly dashed then slid then again leaped inside the object, as the other person gets tagged, As I went this time it the same thing happened except when I just got off the slide I was tagged!


My next turn, the exact same thing happend to me and I was tagged in the same place. Over and Over again. It kinda sucked every time getting out in the same place! Once the Messy Games had finished, well it wasn’t all over for me and a few others…


While I was getting cleaned with the hose I was watching My brothers and the youth boys sliding down this huge mud patch, first I was going to go but I realised I was already clean so I couldn’t be bothered, I saw Willie walking up the mountain but he was already clean so I said to him “Willie don’t go up your already clean” He smiled back at me and turned away, after a while I actually ended up going up that mountain and sliding on my nono/Bottom, the hill was very steep so you had to be careful but the faster we went the more sliding happened!
