Term 4 Extension Recount

Walt: Write a recount of term 4

I’ve had heaps of fun this term because we actually did something cool and creative which was unmistakably, building the UV sensor. Also I loved going to KPMG and learning about drama and Shakespeare! I have loved this year because we’ve actually done something other than just sitting behind a desk with a computer and gathering research, it’s not much fun. I reckon’ I have really learnt something about UV Light and such and i’m so confident I reckon’ I could tell you everything I know about, UV Light.

Obviously I don’t want to spread boredom in your mind as I explain ALL about it, so lucky for you, I won’t. At first I found it boring simply because there was nothing to do and we just talked and talked day after day. But when Mrs Lagitupu Introduced Ray, I was anxious to see the reason for his arrival. And soon I did, as I already mentioned he taught and showed us how to build a teensy UV Sensor - A UV Sensor senses when the sun’s UV rays are too hot and can immensely burn your skin.

I LOVED IT!

Immersion Assembly Term 3 2019,

Walt: Use explanation writing

Do you know what an Immersion Assembly is? Have you ever been to one? Would you like me to tell you?

Monday morning was very tiring but all the school were soon woken by the amazing items that each team pulled off - We have teams in our school, Team 1 = year 1 & 2, Team 2 = 3 & 4 so know you get the point. We have 5 teams altogether and each team presented an item to the entire school through sing dance act whatever really. Our theme for this term is Life’s A Stage, it summarises a whole heap of things like dancing, acting, drama and much more.

I’m going to explain just one item from the assembly. I’m going to choose Team 4’s. Team 4 had an amazing item. They interviewed the characters from our school production last term, Toy Shop. They interviewed 4 characters, Woody from the movie Toy Story, Optimus Prime from the Transformers series, The Toy shop Shopkeeper, and Teddy bear also from Toy Shop production, and of course Bo Peep from Toy Story questioned them.
Bo Peep interviewed Woody, first she asked him a few questions before a song suddenly came on and the cast all danced to this song... The Git Up. Once they were finished Bo Peep moved on to questioned Teddy she went on and on until another song came on and you guessed it, it was the… Teddy Bear Picnic. On and on they went until the music stopped. Bo Peep questioned Optimus and sped through the interview but once the talking was done the song No Effect came on. The teachers danced and danced. Finally the song was complete and the teachers sat down once again. Lastly but not least the Shopkeeper was questioned. She was answering questions fast and Bo Peep had nearly run out of questions, she was handling this well, she thought. Just to finish it off they played finale song Zip Zap Avenue written and sung by Mr Jacobsen and used in the Toy Shop Production.

We all cheered and laughed, some people even started singing along then everyone joined in… zip zip zip zap avenue the magical toy shop… we all applauded and the actors bowed and hurried off the stage to resume their original seats and join in on the fun with the rest of the teams.

Orienteering With Mr Jacobsen

Walt: Write a recount based on what happened with Mr Jacobsen

I wasn’t even startled to hear Mr Jacobsen’s announcement - “We’re doing Orienteering!!!” He said and obviously everyone cheered and laughed at one another as they all cracked jokes and celebrated, my reaction wasn’t as HIP HOORAY as the rest due to late nights so I wasn’t really keen at all. Mr J had set up an orienteering course by placing yellow plastic plates with letters and a direct course - a direction to head in, using the numbers of a compass. E.G Head 225 Degrees East or Head 430 Degrees North. We all learnt how to use a compass, and could easily mirror his actions as he double checked and repeated the entire process again. Obviously we were bored by the third time he explained it (you know how there’s always a person while your in a boring process and they don’t understand so they put up their hands and make the speaker repeat it all again.)

We each kept our compasses in hand or round our neck using some thread, I chose to hold mine. Mr J each gave us a different starting position and we got to work in groups, the max limit was pairs, I chose to be by myself though. I started at one of the trees and blasted off to the direction I was heading to the next mark (Or the mark I thought,) there were several marks close to one another so it was a relatively hard to tell which mark you were heading which also made it a very difficult course to complete.

There were about 10 marks that set the course and they were set around the Entire school. So we were pointing our compasses through the walls to the next mark but it was not in our vision, so we thought it was another mark which led us completely off course! Only 1 team succeeded (obviously it wasn’t mine,) I actually got it completely wrong! But at least I finished it and it was still enjoyable! I had loads of fun!
