Term 4 Extension Recount

Walt: Write a recount of term 4

I’ve had heaps of fun this term because we actually did something cool and creative which was unmistakably, building the UV sensor. Also I loved going to KPMG and learning about drama and Shakespeare! I have loved this year because we’ve actually done something other than just sitting behind a desk with a computer and gathering research, it’s not much fun. I reckon’ I have really learnt something about UV Light and such and i’m so confident I reckon’ I could tell you everything I know about, UV Light.

Obviously I don’t want to spread boredom in your mind as I explain ALL about it, so lucky for you, I won’t. At first I found it boring simply because there was nothing to do and we just talked and talked day after day. But when Mrs Lagitupu Introduced Ray, I was anxious to see the reason for his arrival. And soon I did, as I already mentioned he taught and showed us how to build a teensy UV Sensor - A UV Sensor senses when the sun’s UV rays are too hot and can immensely burn your skin.

I LOVED IT!

Orienteering With Mr Jacobsen

Walt: Write a recount based on what happened with Mr Jacobsen

I wasn’t even startled to hear Mr Jacobsen’s announcement - “We’re doing Orienteering!!!” He said and obviously everyone cheered and laughed at one another as they all cracked jokes and celebrated, my reaction wasn’t as HIP HOORAY as the rest due to late nights so I wasn’t really keen at all. Mr J had set up an orienteering course by placing yellow plastic plates with letters and a direct course - a direction to head in, using the numbers of a compass. E.G Head 225 Degrees East or Head 430 Degrees North. We all learnt how to use a compass, and could easily mirror his actions as he double checked and repeated the entire process again. Obviously we were bored by the third time he explained it (you know how there’s always a person while your in a boring process and they don’t understand so they put up their hands and make the speaker repeat it all again.)

We each kept our compasses in hand or round our neck using some thread, I chose to hold mine. Mr J each gave us a different starting position and we got to work in groups, the max limit was pairs, I chose to be by myself though. I started at one of the trees and blasted off to the direction I was heading to the next mark (Or the mark I thought,) there were several marks close to one another so it was a relatively hard to tell which mark you were heading which also made it a very difficult course to complete.

There were about 10 marks that set the course and they were set around the Entire school. So we were pointing our compasses through the walls to the next mark but it was not in our vision, so we thought it was another mark which led us completely off course! Only 1 team succeeded (obviously it wasn’t mine,) I actually got it completely wrong! But at least I finished it and it was still enjoyable! I had loads of fun!

Gamification - My Favourite Games

This is a blogpost about games.

My favourite games (digital and non-digital) are:

  • Call Of Duty Black Ops 4
  • Gang Beasts
  • Overcooked Gourmet Edition
  • Brawlhalla
  • Madden NFL 15
The reason/s why I enjoy playing these games are:

  • It is very entertaining and I like that you can be in teams while trying to kill the opposite team with ultimate weapons and they’re fun.
  • I reckon Gang Beasts is the most crackup game I’ve ever played in my life it’s funny, interesting, and super fun.
  • I love Overcooked Gourmet Edition because I just recently played it with my brothers and it is crackup as and it is quite a challenge as well, which I love a good challenge.
  • Brawlhalla is a 2d free for all battle game which I love when you get to pick different characters and unlock special abilities and new weapons which do different things, I love that game!
  • Madden NFL 15 is a very fun and funny game, recently jordan and I played it but we played against each other and it was so much fun!

Learning could be made much more fun and interesting if it included these elements of a game:

  • It maybe could but to be honest I like this game just the way it is so for me probably not!
  • Gang Beasts would definitely help me if they made this game more educational but also this is a great game just the way it is.Related imageImage result for gang beasts xbox

Extension Reflection Term 1 2018

Term 1 wasn’t as cool as Term 2 but still it had a few fun parts in it!
Me and my group had an awesome time together planning and crafting
new ideas for things, my group was called the Environmentalists which
their job is to clean up the land and the environment! Term 1 for me
was average but every year the first term isn’t so fun at first well if
your me!

Each term we have our paideia seminar which we didn’t have this year
because we didn’t have enough time to do it, if you didn’t know
paideia seminars is where a group of people gather together to share
and discuss ideas about a topic or issue.

Extension Reflection Term 2 2018

Term 2 was awesome we had lots of fun creating animations,
researching about our topic and having fun! Every term
extension is the same but if you believe that it is fun then it will
be fun. I had lot’s of fun this term learning creating and sharing.

What I think i did well on is creating and finishing my groups
projects and getting lot’s of research onto my blog.
This terms extension focus/The Provocative Statement was
‘Developing new technologies may be the only way to ensure
the survival of the human race’!

Toby: A warrior named wiremu was banished from his tribe for breaking all the tribe’s rules, and because of this he was sent to the next island where the taniwha and the tentacled monster lurked with their terrifying gaze. Kauri: This is where he lived for the past 2 years, here is wiremu and this is his home! So one day he went out to cut the wood for his night fire, using a sharp rock with some sharp pointed bits and then he accidently dropped the rock and clang, he grabbed his hammer and banged the hammer then he saw something, glowing in the shadow he did it again just to make sure then he couldn't believe his eyes, a golden nugget. Toby: Then he went inside his house and decides what to do with it, after a few hours staring at the legendary thing, he finally decided what to do with it. Kauri: He fixes his waka, stored some resources for the journey, and gets going! Toby: Once he had landed on the safe water he began his journey, but oh no he just remembered the tentacled monster and the… Taniwha! Kauri: He had a plan, it was to poke the tentacled monster in the face and shine his light beacon that he had crafted. Toby: After scaring and killing the beasts he had finally returned to his homeland, gifting the gold for his freedom! Kauri: The chief replied and said yes. 2456 years later it is in the auckland museum as an artifact. Kauri & Toby: The End Thanks For Watching!
